WHY IS THERE A FEE FOR VIRTUAL PARTICIPATION???

ASM is charging a modest registration fee to virtually attend ASM 2022. Organizing a meeting on a scale to deliver more than 300 abstracts worth of technical and poster sessions, plenaries, symposia, workshops, and other special events requires ASM to license new presentation technology and expend substantial staff and volunteer time to coordinate planning activities leading up to and during the meeting.

Typically, registration fees for the in-person Annual Meeting cover direct costs (audio-visual, internet, food-beverage, etc.) but only a portion of indirect costs (staff time, travel, etc.). The difference is usually underwritten through exhibitor and sponsorship fees. While we believe the hybrid meeting will attract a wide audience, we are expecting limited sponsorship support because of ongoing financial difficulties from vendors stemming from the pandemic, necessitating a fee for virtual attendance.

GUEST REGISTRATION

Registered in-person conference attendees can register a guest. Guest participation is limited to non-ticketed evening social events. To attend other in-person sessions, such as presentations, individuals should register at the full conference rate. Guests are required to have a ticket for the closing social and awards ceremony.

ASM GOING GREEN!!!

In an effort to keep meeting costs low, and to reduce our impact on the environment, ASM will ONLY produce a print version of the Program and Abstract Book when selected during registration. Printed program and abstract book will NOT be sold onsite. The Program and Abstract Book will be available for free as a PDF on the meeting website. In addition, the Program will be available to all attendees through the virtual meeting platform.

REFUND POLICY

If you must cancel your registration, please do so as soon as possible. A refund, less a $10 administrative fee, will be made if cancellation request is received by 31 May 2022. The deadline for presenters to cancel their registration and withdraw abstracts for a full refund less the $10 administrative fee is 30 April 2022. After these dates, refunds are NOT available. Fees will not be canceled for registered participants who do not attend and have not notified the conference registration office by the posted cancellation deadlines.

DEMOGRAPHIC INFORMATION REQUEST – WHY DOES ASM REQUEST THIS?

The American Society of Mammalogists requests demographic information to help determine how we can better promote, encourage, and support diversity in our membership and to better serve our current and future members. The American Society of Mammalogists is dedicated to ensuring the opportunity for active, equal participation in Society functions by all members, regardless of gender, race, ethnic background, age, physical disabilities, or sexual orientation.

PHOTOGRAPHS, PUBLICITY, AND PARTICIPICANT LISTS

Registration for this event gives consent for photographs, publicity, and inclusion on the participant list unless the American Society of Mammalogists is notified in writing prior to the start date.

COVID-19 MITIGATION EFFORTS

The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has presented challenges for everyone, including in-person participation at our annual meetings. Although current data indicate that the number of cases and hospitalizations are decreasing worldwide, ASM continues to monitor the COVID-19 pandemic and reserves the right to take appropriate mitigation efforts if deemed necessary. ASM will communicate any mitigation efforts to conference attendees if it becomes warranted. In the interim, ASM encourages ALL in-person attendees to receive their COVID-19 vaccinations and boosters prior to attending the meeting, as well as receiving a COVID-19 test prior to travel.

PROGRAM CANCELLATION POLICY

The American Society of Mammalogists may cancel or postpone this program because of insufficient enrollment or other unforeseen circumstances. If the program is canceled or postponed, registration fees will be refunded but we cannot be held responsible for other costs, charges, or expenses, including cancellation/change charges assessed by airlines or travel agencies. Registration fees will not be canceled and refunds will not be issued if the program is held but the registrant is unable to attend due to travel delays or cancellations caused by inclement weather, or due to other extraordinary circumstances beyond the control of the American Society of Mammalogists.
