ASM 2021 — Program Announcement

Please join us 14 to 18 June 2021 for the 100th Annual Meeting of the American Society of Mammalogists. For the first time ever, the annual conference will be held virtually, providing the opportunity for mammalogists worldwide to join in the celebration. Learn about the latest advances in the study of mammals and interact with researchers and educators specializing in these fascinating animals. Come celebrate this important milestone in modern mammalogy!

ASM 2021 PROGRAM IS NOW AVAILABLE ONLINE!!!

The 2021 meeting program is now available online. Regular updates to the program will continue to occur as we get closer to the meeting, and a final version will be posted as a PDF document on the meeting website. Please note that instructions for accessing the ASM 2021 program content on the X-CD virtual meeting platform will be shared with registered attendees the week prior to the conference.

PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS

The scientific program includes contributed oral and poster presentations, as well as plenary speakers, symposia, and workshops. The plenary sessions feature an impressive lineup of student Honoraria and Fellowship recipients and the 2019 and 2020 recipients of the ASM Grinnell, Leopold, and Merriam Awards. Symposia include current topics in advances in teaching, pathobiology and collections, global mammal distribution and threats, and trait-based ecology. Workshops provide training in CT data, camera trap data, undergraduate education, 1-on-1 mentoring, and acoustic monitoring. Our capstone speaker, Rodolfo Dirzo, will close out the scientific program.

A full social agenda also is planned including a family-oriented opening social featuring Charlie Engelman of Nat Geo Kids and Disney+; a virtual run-for-research (#R4R2021); an exclusive screening of Deer 139 for student attendees; and an awards ceremony will follow the capstone session. Virtual field trips of the Washington State University Bear Research, Education, and Conservation Center; the National Museum of Natural History marine mammal collections; and the Duke University Lemur Center and Fossil Collections are also available. Please check the meeting website for more information and regular updates. Please be sure to share and follow ASM 2021 on social media by using #ASM2021!

ARE YOU INTERESTED IN ORGANIZING A THEMATIC DISCUSSION?

The X-CD virtual meeting platform offers a unique tool to engage other mammalogists in timely discussion topics. This tool is called Networking Lounges, and it functions very much like a Zoom meeting. Networking Lounges can handle up to 50 people and are accessible to all paid ASM 2021 conference attendees. Networking Lounges are the perfect venue for thematic discussions relevant to ASM 2021 participants, but they are NOT meant to be private meeting spaces. So, if you would like to set up an ASM 2021 discussion group around a relevant topic in mammalogy and invite other conference attendees to participate, please submit a Networking Lounge request (see form here) by June 4, 2021.
